With great sorrow, we mourn the loss of our brother, cousin, uncle, great-uncle, and friend.
Jose was born on May 7, 1965, in Salinas, CA. and passed away on December 15, 2022, at the age of 57 after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Obdulio Roque Magdaleno and Maria Gracia Mendez, Paternal grandparents Lucas Magdaleno y Susana Roque de Magdaleno, Maternal grandmother Teresa Quevedo Mendez and brother-in-law Jesus Aguayo, Sr.
He attended local schools: Sherwood Elementary, El Sausal Jr. High and was a 1983 graduate of Alisal High School where he was a standout football and baseball player. He went on to attend and play football for Monterey Peninsula College.
He had multiple jobs in the grocery retail business and last worked as a delivery driver for various dairy and agriculture companies.
He loved listening to old school and classic rock music, all sports and especially cheering on his Raiders and SF Giants. He was a member of the Salinas Crusaders car club since 1984 and enjoyed traveling to car shows up and down California displaying his 1964 Riviera.
With his larger-than-life spirit, Jose formed an amazing group of friends, new and old, of all ages and diverse backgrounds that he always stayed connected with. His great sense of humor, quick wit and sarcasm could be counted on to have everyone in the room laughing at one of his many stories and jokes.
He was never afraid to be direct and loved and supported his friends encouraging them to believe in themselves and go for their dreams.
Jose is survived by his sisters Guadalupe Aguayo and Idalia (Danny) Ow of Salinas. Nieces: Alicia (Ozzie) Mendoza, Marilu Aguayo (Alain Rodriguez) and Corrine Ow. Nephews: Jesus Aguayo, Jr and Derrick Ow. Great-nephews: Michael and Jason Mendoza, Nicholas, Shaymus and Roberto Aguayo. Great-nieces: Andrea Gutierrez, Desiree Aguayo and Annabelle Rodriguez. Great-great niece and nephew: Alysse and Jordan. Numerous Uncles, cousins and their extended families, devoted friend, his beloved cat Porkee, and all those he touched by his love and ever-present humor.
While we are heartbroken, he is no longer with us, we find peace knowing he is free from pain and illness.
