Obituary of David Phillips

David Phillips, 37 formerly of Cleveland, TN died peacefully in the arms of his adoring wife and arose in the presence of his Savior on Friday afternoon, May second. A Kidney transplant recipient, David spent the last few monthe in the hospital battling a painful illness. His wish to depart this world at his home was honored. David, youngest son Charles and Laurena Phillips was born on December 1, 1970 in Klamath Falls, OR. At the age of five, his family moved to the Southern U.S., finally settling in Chattanooga, TN. He will be remembered as the treasured husband of Beth Phillips of King City, daughter of William and Kathleen Merritt, also of King City. David was the proud and beloved father of Jennifer (9) and Todd (8). It was important to him that they know they were his "gifts" from God, as they continually renewed his hope and laughter. A talented and creative chef, trained in cullinary arts in San Francisco, he returned home and met Beth who was attending Bryan University in Tennesse. They were married on June 28, 2003. His wife regrets that they will not be able to celebrate their 5th anniversary next month. David was constant example of long-suffering acceptance of God's plan and providence. this legacy, he entrusts to his two elder brothers, Richard Phillips of Tuckerman, AR, and Charles (Church) Phillips of Chattanooga, TN. He is preceeded in death by his father, Rev. Charles Phillips. Both families would like to express gratitude and amazement at the capacity of so many to minister in so many special ways during this difficult time. Your thoughts, prayers, meals, babysitting have dearly been appreciated. A Memorial Celebration will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in King City, the church home for their family.
