Obituary of Paula Davis

Paula "Granny" Davis, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 at hre home with family at her bedside. She was born March 7, 1932 in Cecil, Arkansas to her mother, Lemma Valentine, and her father, Paul Valentine. During WW2, Paula, her parents, and two older sisters moved to Oakland, Ca. so her parents could work in the shipping yards. They later moved to Salinas. She graduated in 1950 from Salinas High School which is also where she met and married the love of her life, Mack Davis. Their family grew by three boys, Dary, Jerry, and Terry. To help out, Paula went to work with her sister Peggy and opened a beauty shoppe in North Salinas called, "The Kut n Kurl". She also served very faithfully at church her entire life, and was the church pianist for many years not to mention a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir. Her passion was playing the piano and singing. She was affectionately referred to as, "Granny". Granny was a beautiful, compassionate person who was full of life and love. She enjoyed family tremendously and always orchestrated huge holiday dinners single-handedly. This was her favorite time. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Mack Davis, son, Gary Davis, parents, Paul and Lemma Valentine and sister Billie Hedges. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Diane) Davis of Denair, Ca., Terry (Yoriko) Davis of Soledad, Ca., sister, Peggy (Alfred) Moreno, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed immensely by all who knew her.
