Obituary of Victorino Dorantes

Victorino "Vito" Dorantes Landaverde, 46, of Soledad, California, lost his courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer on Friday, January 18, 2008, at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 25, 1961 in Santa Catarina, Guanajuato, Mexico. He worked for the Dune Company of Chualar for two years, and previously at Associated Tagline Inc. of Salinas for eighteen years. "Vito" was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. Everyone knew him as a kind-hearted person and was always with a a smile. His passion was his family and his home was definitely where his heart was. He would make friends anywhere he would go. Everyone loved him because of his words of wisdom and his ability to mke anyone laugh and smile when they were sad. He would also be friendly to his co-workers. He would always make people smile by his amazing singing talent. He moved from Mexico to Castroville at the age of 19 to have a better future and life. He later married the love of his life, Maria Elena Dorantes. During their 21 years of marriage, they had three beautiful daughters, Jeanette (20), Jessica (17), and Daisy (12) Dorantes, all of Soledad. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors including Mark A. Vierra, M.D., Roger Shiffman, M.D., and Robert Patton, M.D. and to their wonderful staff for giving their all to save a life of a wonderful man. Also, thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at CHOMP Hospital for all of their efforts, and their outstanding care and extra attention in the caring of our dear "Vito". Juana Dorantes (Redentor) Lopez of Mexicali, B.C. brothers Rogelio (Maria) Dorantes of Castroville Roberto (Sonia) Dorantes of Salinas Romulo (Marissa) Dorantes of Salinas Ricardo (Esmeralda) Dorantes of Salinas Antonio (Felicitas) Jimenez of Texas stepmother Maria de Jesus Cabrera Dorantes of Santa Catarina, Guanajuato, Mexico He is preceded in death by his father, Ramon Dorantes Lopez and his brother, Felipe Hernandez.
