Obituary of Arthur Davis

Arthur G. Davis, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on October 10, 2008, following a brief illness with cancer, with family at his side. He was born in the City of East St. Louis, Illinois on January 18, 1924 to Nettie and Joseph Davis. Art graduated from Port Angeles High School, Port Angeles, Washington in 1942. From April 15, 1943, until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1946 serving his country in the Army in Central Europe seeing action in World War II. After 34 years, Art retired from the Pacific Gas and Electric power plant in Moss Landing. When Art retired from PG & E, he and his wife, June, moved to Roseville, CA, returning to Salinas 4 years ago to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. Art and June treasured the time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed driving to the seashore and also visiting his bull mastiff grand dog "Brownie" at the ranch. Art will be missed for his quick wit, let's get the job done fortitude, and was a perfectionist to the end. Art is survived by Wife of 32 years, June, of the family home in Salinas; Daughter Diane and Dick Johnson of Salinas; Stepchildren Elizabeth Rayfield of New Hampshire, Philip Gage of Atlanta, Georgia, and Geoffrey Gage of El Paso Texas. He is also survived by his Brothers Ralph and Bernice Davis of Los Osos, Joe Davis of Lake Oswego, Oregon and his Sister Donna Clayton of Montana. Art leaves Grandchildren Kristine and Ralph O'Dell of Salinas, Bryan and Shawna Johnson of Salinas, Mike Johnson of Aromas and Great-granddaughter Kendall Johnson of Salinas. Stepgrandchildren Brandy, Ryan, Casey and Krystal and many Step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Mert Davis of Oregon.
