Obituary of Elda Nadine LeGault

Elda Nadine LeGault passed away on June 27, 2019 at her home in Salinas.  Elda was born on August 18, 1926 in Arizona to William Pemberton and Valda Patterson Pemberton.  She was the eldest of six children and the only daughter.  Her family relocated to Salinas when she was a child and this is where she met her late husband, Eugene LeGault.  They had 3 children of their own and one of Elda’s great passions was her family.  She adored her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Elda spent her youth working as a telephone operator and later in the packing sheds before she settled down around the age of 25 to care for her children.  Elda loved animals.  She enjoyed spending time playing cards, doing crosswords, and reading.  She was always happiest dancing and listening to music. 

Elda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Valda Pemberton, her 5 brothers and multiple sister-in-law’s; Art (Bea), Walter “Deto” (Mary), Oscar (Jean and Vera), Jerry (Barbara, surviving sister-in-law), and Keith (Dovie); her husband of 35 years, Eugene “Chick” LeGault and her only daughter, Gloria. She was also preceded in death by her companion for the past 30 years, Tommy Spradling.  She has left behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Gordy and Gary; her grandchildren, Gordy’s children, Jill, Gordy Jr., Christopher, Nicole “Nikki”, Michelle “Shellie”; Gloria’s children, Melanie and Robert “Bobby”; and Gary’s children, Francine, Valerie, and Gary Jr. as well as numerous great grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A viewing will be held for Elda on Friday, July 5^th beginning at 9am until 10am at Healey Mortuary Chapel.  A funeral service will begin at 10 am on the 5th followed by burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St. Salinas, Ca 93901.  After the burial the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Elda at the Elk's Lodge, 614 Airport Blvd, Salinas, CA 93905 beginning at 1pm until 4pm.
