Obituary of Charles Jr. Ventura

Charles Ventura, 79, 1/15/1941 – 05/18/2020
Born in Trinidad, Colorado, his family moved to Salinas in his early childhood. He finished his academic career with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Hartnell Community College. He utilized his skills in a career including helping youth at Juvenile Hall and Natividad Boys Ranch. However, his passion was mentoring youth into adulthood through athletics. He coached baseball, softball, and would do whatever it took to reach kids and to let them know the importance of family and the broader life lessons sports could teach. His hobbies included, fishing, gardening, traveling with his wife, slow-pitch softball, listening to Blues music, and watching the Yankees and 49ers.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesus, mother Mollie, sister Barbara Guerra, and son Jeff Bedford.


He is survived by his wife of 50 years Frances, sister Lillian (Fernando) Rios, brother Gerald (Maureen) Ventura, daughters Kristi, and Danelle (Chris) Newman, son Joseph (Nicole) Ventura, Grandchildren, Carissa (Joe) Rodriguez, Erika (Jorge) Edeza, Vincent Martinez (Nicole), Alexandria Alo, Richard Ramirez, Tristan Alo (Nikola), Joseph Newman, Zachary Newman, Isabella Bedford, Charles Ventura, Gabriella Bedford, Joseph Ventura, Leonardo Bedford, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Due to current circumstances, a celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.
