Morgan Barker

Obituary of Morgan Ann Barker

Morgan Ann Barker, age 36, of Salinas, California,
passed away June 10, 2020.
Born at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital, Morgan grew
up in Louisville Kentucky, graduated from Santa
Catalina School in Monterey, and attended Arizona State
University up to her Junior year.
Morgan was a talented photographer who’s photos
captured the essence of of San Fransisco. Her artistic
talents expanded into music where she wrote songs from
her heart. She loved the outdoors and dancing and
enjoyed working in the garden. She also was a budding
rock climber that tackled every climb with grit and
determination.
Morgan was a gentle soul. Fluent in Spanish, she was
often seen stopping her work to have a kind word with
the working people or a passersby. In San Francisco,
while working summer jobs, she was often seen taking
food, that otherwise would have been discarded, to the
homeless down the street from where she worked.
She didn't just touch the souls in San Francisco, she
touched the souls of everyone wherever she traveled.
Despite her struggles with a long term mental illness,
she never lost her sense of humor and fought hard to
keep her humanity intact. A caring person, who, even on
her worst days, could find a moment of kindness and
grace to thank those around her. She touched all those
who helped her push through the storms that
surrounded her soul.
No one who met and knew Morgan ever had a bad word
to say about her. Morgan's smile and laugh will be
missed by all. She is with the angels now. May she rest in
peace.
Morgan is survived by her son, West; her brother, Jesse
Rutledge Barker; her mother, Ann Ricks Case and
father, Jesse Russell Barker.
A memorial service will be held once it is safe to
convene. For now we ask all that knew her to take a
moment of silence and pray for her soul. In lieu of
flowers, family would like to remember her by donating
to the Foundation of Hope in Raleigh North Carolina.
And, more importantly, take time to walk in her
footsteps, and those of the lord, and show kindness to
those that are mentally ill, homeless and suffering.
