Obituary of Dorothy B. Black

Dorothy Bohanan Black, 86, died peacefully at home on February 5, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Born in Talihina, Oklahoma in 1934, she moved to Salinas in 1943 with her mother and siblings. Here she married the love of her life in 1950.
 She is survived by her sisters Deanna Foster of Virginia, Joanne Dillon, of California, her brother Robert Bohanan of Florida, her children Bob, Joni, David Black, and her grandchildren Nick and Barbara Black, all of Salinas. In addition, she was Aunt Dot to many nieces and nephews and Mom or Grandma to close family friends.
She was greeted on the other side by her mother, Elsie Bohanan, her husband, Bob, her grandson, Robert David, her sisters DavieMae Russell, Helen McDaniel, Inola Walker and her nephews Vince Walker and Steve McDaniel.
Dorothy loved children and worked as a preschool teacher for many years. She loved gardening and marveled at the miracle of a tiny seed becoming a beautiful flower. She touched many lives with her wisdom and love. She was One Amazing Mom.
Services will be provided by Healey Mortuary and internment will be at The Queen of Heaven Cemetery at a date to be determined.
