Hae Ja Lyles

Obituary of Hae Ja Lyles

Mrs. Hae Ja (Jackie) Kwon Lyles was preceded in death by her husband SSG Alex Lyles in 1976, and longtime companion Ephraim McCree in 1996 and grandson Brandon Tupas in 2013.

Growing up in Japan and Korean during WWII, Jackie saw and experienced the devastations of war up close. Throughout her life she shared stories of having to wash clothes in freezing waters during the winters, food rationing and having to search all day for small amounts of wild vegetation to help feed her family, and numerous times of near statvation. Also at a young age she had to walk through rows of dead bodies on her way to school. This was very stressful and traumatizing for her and she didn't continue with her schooling.

As a young adult during the Korean war she worked at a cafe where she met Alex. For a year Alex would go to this cafe and try talking to her. She wanted nothing to do with him until, one day she finally asked her friend what this man wanted. Her friend told her he liked her and wanted to take her on a date. She wondered why this American soldier would want to take her out. She finally gave in and the rest is history.

Later they were married and started a family. They're first son was born in Korea, the second son in France and they're daughter was born in Germany. They're family came to the US in 1968. They drove across the country to Monterey County where they were stationed at Fort Ord military base. They lived on base for 6 years till they were able to purchase their first home in 1974 in Salinas California. Here is where she lived out her life.

Jackie lived her life with a fierce dedication to family. Her children and grandchildren were her life's focus/mission. She is survived by her children. Her sons Micheal Lyles, Andre and Tracy Lyles, daughter Alisa and Cathleen Lesser and Vipha DelaCruz. 8 grandchildren; Divina Aramkul and George Wilson, Tanishia Lyles, Lynnae and Lillie Lyles, Mackenzie, Daniela DelaCruz, Justin and Nataly Tupas, Ray Smith and Lauren Tuosto. 8 great grandchildren; Bailey Rae Wilson, Adian and Mathew Tupas, Justin, Stephen and Camyrn Tupas and Alyssa DeWitt.

Mom,

Did I tell you enough that I Love you?

Did I tell you how much I appreciate each and everything that you did for me?

If not let me say it now.

As of all the souls that have walked this earth with me, none has or ever will have the impact that you have had on me.

I love you Yesterday

I love you Today

And I will Love you for all Eternity.
