Ramona Felix

Obituary of Ramona Felix

We invite friends and family to join us in saying farewell to our mother, grandmother, wife and friend, la querida Dona Ramona Felix.

Ramona came to the Salinas area in the early 70’s, from el Pueblo De Alaya (Cosala), Culiacan, Sinaloa.  She spent her early years working in the Salinas Valley agricultural fields. It is among the lush fields of the Salinas Valley, that her love of gardening and flowers began - her homes and gardens overflowing with an abundance of greenery.

Though a devout Catholic, Ramona always believed that everyone was entitled to his or her own beliefs. In her home you could find statues of Buddha, Ganesh, right along side of her saints and her Virgin de Guadalupe.

Her vitality and vivacious personality, along with her loving demeanor for everyone made her home a haven for many of the neighborhood kids. Whether it was a simple plate of rice and beans or just a safe place, her home was always full of life, spirit and love.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents Ricardo and Maria Felix, as well her son Magdaleno “Chato” Martinez. She is survived by her children, Lupe Mendoza, Maria Mathus (Martinez), Erica Martinez, Lorrie Sandoval, Jesus Martinez, Nick Martinez, Rebeca Mazer (Martinez), Gema Amapola Ramirez, along with many amazing grand-children, nephews and nieces and a handful of great grand-children.

Memorial visitation will be held at Healey Mortuary on Monday, May 24 from 2-6pm. Mass and burial rights are to be held at Cristo Rey and Garden of Memories on May 25, beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, we would request that you make a donation to your local Food Bank.
