Obituary of Hector Francisco Grijalva

Hector Francisco Grijalva passed away peacefully in Salinas at the age of 99 on May 30, 2021. Hector was a US Army veteran who served in WW II and Vietnam. His last posting was Fort Ord, California. Upon honorable discharge from the US Army as a Master Sergeant he worked for the Monterey County Tax Assessors Office for 10 years. He was born on March 2, 1925 in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, to Bartolo Grijalva and Gertrudis Grijalva Corbala.

He married Josefina Carlos Grijalva on March 19, 1947 in Manila, Philippines. They were married for 69 years. Josefina passed away in 2016. They had seven children--Francisco Grijalva (spouse Susan), Alicia Dazols(spouse Charles) both deceased, Elizabeth Cavallero (spouse Robert), Lourdes Brigham (spouse Michael), Robert Grijalva (spouse Kathy), David Grijalva (spouse Rosalie) and Mary Ann DeCosta (spouse Robert) and seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He is survived by four siblings: Emilio, Anna Maria, Carmen Socorro and Mercedes.

A memorial will be held later this during which Hector will be interned at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Salinas.
