Obituary of Maria Norma Orozco Villalobos

Maria Norma “Chata” Orozco passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2021. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Chata, as her family would call her, was born on October 8,1966, in El Bejuco, Michoacán, México. She grew up in Mexico until she was 10 years old and then moved to Salinas, where she resided until she passed. Maria worked for the Salinas Union High School District for 19 years as a food service assistant at Salinas High School and most recently at La Paz Middle School. Serving lunch to the children of our communities. Prior to working for the school district, Maria served our communities by working in retail at the Northridge Mall. Maria enjoyed being outdoors. She loved going camping with her family as well as going to the rivers and lakes. She was always gardening and watering her plants. Her hobbies included cooking, putting together puzzles, board games with her children and watching her T.V. shows (Survivor, Exalton, Real Housewives, Keeping up with Kardashian, among others). She was a kind and courageous person. She is survived by her children: Ricardo Negrete and Santos Negrete. She had several god-children, nieces and nephews that were like her own children. Aside from her children, Maria is survived by her husband of 31 years, Gabriel Negrete and her brothers and sisters: Cuauhtémoc Orozco, Gregorio Arzate, Michael Rodriguez, Kristine Flores, Anel Arana, Antonieta Arzate, Lesha Rodriguez, as well as her parents Santos Orozco and Celia Arzate. Maria was very welcoming to anyone that came to her home. She was loved by many people, and she created beautiful bonds with friends and family. She will be dearly missed but will not be forgotten. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20,2021 from 1 - 4 PM at the Healey Mortuary, a rosary to follow at 4:00 PM. 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas Ca 93905. A Funeral Mass will be held, Wednesday, July 21,2021 at 9:30 AM at Madonna del Sasso, 320 E Laurel Drive Salinas Ca 93906 Burial will follow at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way Prunedale Ca 93907
