Obituary of Joaquin Hernandez Torre

Joaquin Hernandez Torre , 73, born in Tamuning, Guam went quietly and was granted his angel wings on November 9, 2021 with his family by his side.  Joaquin was preceded in death by his parents Jose Aflague Torre and Ignacia Benavente Torre, his in-laws Jose and Maria Camacho Indalecio, brothers Baby Joseph and Daniel Torre; sister Agnes Torre Manibusan;  brother-in-law Jesse Duenas Sablan, sisters in law Margarita Indalecio and Diane Indalecio;  his nephews Joseph Pangelinan, Jr. and Daniel Torre Jr.

Joaquin will be sadly missed by his wife Vivida Camacho Indalecio Torre of 50 years and his children Jeremy (Madeline, Preston, Olivia-Ellise);  Josetta Torre Moore (Jordyn, Jalen); Jon and Sandra Torre (Maia, Emma);  sister, Barbara Torre Sablan; brother Joseph Torre (Hope); brothers and sisters in law Pepe Indalecio (+Magarita); Clare Indalecio and Joseph Pangelinan; Linda Indalecio and David Aguon;  Sixto (+Diane) Indalecio, countless cousins, nephews and nieces, along with 72 godchildren

Joaquin served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as an SFC in 1990.  Soon after, he started his own business called “Ultimate Painting” and was very successful.   At the same time, he worked for the Monterey County Department as a Child Support Officer for many years and retired a second time.  He spent innumerable hours at the golf course,  joking with friends, or just hanging out.  His dedicated time, however, was with his children and grandchildren.   He also looked for the less fortunate on the streets of Salinas and many, many times would provide them with food, clothing or financial support.

He will be fondly remembered for his fierce independence, strength and strong patriarch of his family and a good friend to all.  He was a tough, loving father and proud grandfather, champion of social gatherings, and a patriot as an Army Veteran.

Visitations will be held at Healey Mortuary, 405 North Sanborn Road in Salinas CA on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM

Funeral services will begin with Mass 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, at Madonna Del Sasso Church Parish, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas followed by interment at Queen Of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas.  Fellowship will follow immediately at Madonna’s Hall (behind Church).
