Obituary of Fernando J. Avila

Fernando J. Avila, 52, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born on September 18, 1969 in Monterey, California. He lived in Marina his whole life and was known and loved by many. Fernando worked for the city of Seaside for 24 years. Fernando was a member of Lighthouse Full Gospel Christian Church for many years. Fernando was a hard working, big hearted man that touched many lives. He had a big personality and knew how to make anyone laugh. He will be missed by many and loved by all. 

After being together since they were 14, Fernando married his childhood sweetheart, Lupe, at the age of 29 and they spent the next 23 years happily married.  They started a beautiful life and family together. Not only was Fernando a good father to his own kids, but he was a great father figure to the many young men and women that knew him.

Fernando is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Alfred; brother, Arthur and his sisters, Daria and Sara. Fernando is survived by his wife, Lupe Avila; his sons, Julian, Nando and Braulio of Marina; his daughter, LeeAnne Sanks of Marina; his brothers, Alfred, Joey, Michael “Papa” Avila; sister Ramona “Muka” Avila and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
