Obituary of Martin Falkyn Bande

Martin Falkyn Bande, devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, died March 3, 2022 in his home in Prunedale surrounded by family.

Martin was born in North Vancouver, Canada on June 13, 1960. He later moved to Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington as an Emergency Medicine Physician.

He made his home in Orange County until 2020 and filled it with so much love. He enjoyed a range of outdoor sports from having a zip line in his backyard, repelling, biking, hiking, rollerblading and playing tennis. 

To know Martin was to expect the unexpected he was full of surprises. You could know him for five minutes and immediately understand that he was like no one else. He was the living example of a man who devoted himself to his family but loved his friends more than words can describe. 

He confronted the world in all its pain and beauty with his illness, he took the hardest things life had to offer in stride and still found wonder and joy in the moments that most people let pass by. He lived more lives than most and did so with unprecedented tenacity and grit. Nothing could dissuade him from anything he set his mind to. Fatherhood was no exception, he loved Martincito with all his heart and fought so hard to be strong for him and spend as much precious time with him.

His generosity and love extended beyond his friends and family to his patients. Without question he always provided the care he knew was needed, and always went the extra mile even when it was outside the scope of what was expected. He was an irreplaceable husband, father, son, brother, and friend to those who knew him. Though his physical self has left us, he will forever live in our hearts and will continue to make us all laugh with the wonderful memories we will always treasure. We will miss his beautiful smile, fearlessness and uncanny ability to shock an entire room & make us all laugh with a single comment!

His Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Healey Mortuary Chapel beginning at 11:30 am.

Martin Falkyn Bande, devoto esposo, padre, hijo, hermano y amigo, murió el 3 de marzo de 2022 en su casa en Prunedale rodeado de su familia.

Martin nació en Vancouver, Canadá, el 13 de junio de 1960. Más tarde se mudó a Seattle, donde se graduó de la Universidad de Washington como médico de medicina de emergencia.

Hizo su hogar en el condado de Orange hasta 2020 y lo llenó de mucho amor. Disfrutó de una variedad de deportes al aire libre desde tener una tirolesa en su patio, repellarse de la azotea, andar en bicicleta, caminar, patinar y jugar tenis.

Conocer a Martín era esperar lo inesperado, estaba lleno de sorpresas. Podrías conocerlo durante cinco minutos e inmediatamente entender que no era como nadie más. Fue el ejemplo vivo de un hombre que se dedicó a su familia pero amaba a sus amigos más de lo que las palabras pueden describir.

Se enfrentó al mundo en todo su dolor y belleza con su enfermedad, tomó las cosas más difíciles que la vida tenía para ofrecer con calma y aun así encontró asombro y alegría en los momentos que la mayoría de la gente deja pasar. Vivió más vidas que la mayoría y lo hizo con una tenacidad y determinación sin precedentes. Nada lo podría desviar de cualquier cosa que el se proponía. La paternidad no fue la excepción, amaba a Martincito con todo su corazón y luchó muy duro para ser fuerte para él y pasar tanto tiempo precioso con él.

Su generosidad y amor se extendieron más allá de sus amigos y familiares a sus pacientes. Sin lugar a dudas, siempre brindó la atención que sabía que se necesitaba y siempre hizo un esfuerzo adicional, incluso cuando estaba fuera del alcance de lo que se esperaba. Fue un esposo, padre, hijo, hermano y amigo insustituible para quienes lo conocieron. Aunque su físico ya nos ha dejado, vivirá para siempre en nuestros corazones y continuará haciéndonos reír con los maravillosos recuerdos que siempre atesoraremos. ¡Extrañaremos su hermosa sonrisa, su valentía y su asombrosa habilidad de sorprender a todos y hacernos reír con un solo comentario!

Los servicios serán el sábado 5 de marzo a las 11:30 am en Healey Mortuary Chapel.
