Obituary of Carrol Eugene Fort

Carrol Eugene Fort, 84, of Prunedale, CA passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. He was born on November 27, 1937 in Aromas, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann (McDonald) Fort of Prunedale, CA. on May 24, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother, Miles Preston Fort and Vera May (Anthony) Fort of Salinas, CA.

Carrol was a member of the first graduating class of El Sausal Jr. High School in 1952 and graduated from Salinas High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, Shirley Fort, in 1957. Carrol was a Carpenter by trade, but he was also a Master Craftsman, an Artist, and a Writer. Carrol was retired, but worked for Tombleson, Inc. for over 30 years. He also served in the California National Guard. He was an Honored Member of the Carpenters Local 605, the SHS Alumni, the AHS Booster Club, and the Salinas Hot Rodders Club. Carrol and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Carrol enjoyed sketching, drawing, painting, and writing poems. He loved giving these things to friends and family. His skill as a carpenter led him to create many keepsakes. Through the years he could be seen at his children and grandchildren’s Little League games, Softball games, Basketball games, Swim meets, and Football games. He also enjoyed going to the Races at the Watsonville Speedway … So much so, that he built a replica car bed of his grandson’s favorite racecar #22 out of wood.

Carrol leaves behind his 3 children, Valarie (her husband Billy) Coffey of Prunedale, Sandra (her husband William) Jackson of Dripping Springs, TX, and Darren (his wife Ligia) Fort of Salinas, CA; seven grandchildren … Ryan (his wife Krystle) Coffey, Corey (his wife Chyanne) Coffey, and Sean (his wife Kimberly) Coffey all of Coeur D’Alene, ID, William Jackson of San Antonio, TX, Mandi (her husband Matt) Kime of Puyallup, WA, Roy Calderon of Clovis, CA, Kevin (his wife Jackie) Calderon of Salinas, CA, and thirteen great grandchildren

Celebration of Life will be held on April 29, 2022 @ 2:00 p.m. at Echoes from Calvary Church, 1025 Post Drive, Salinas, CA.
