Obituary of Josephine "Jo" Morris

Josephine “Jo” Morris passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the age of 97. Josephine was born February 13, 1925 in Mesa, AZ and has lived in Salinas for the past 53 years.  She was a retired Registered Nurse, author, a long-time volunteer in the Salinas community with over 40+ years of service at the Juvenile Hall. She also served with Salinas NAACP, Salvation Army, the Community Outreach Program Endeavor (COPE) and many other organizations.

Josephine was preceded in death by her dedicated husband, Morgan Morris, her sweet daughter June and precious son David, her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, 4 sister- in-laws and 4 brother-in-laws.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memory and live out her legacy, her pride and joy son Daniel C. Morris, faithful and loving daughter-in-law Joannie, 2 special young men who were like sons Kenneth and Keith Stuart, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, 1 sister-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 6 Godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Compass Church located at 830 Padre Drive in Salinas, California you are invited to join at 10:00 a.m. for a time of reflection followed by a public service at 11:00 a.m. to honor Josephine’s life and legacy with a repass following immediately.  Josephine will be laid to rest at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas.
