Obituary of Josie Ochoa Sinclair

Josie Sinclair heard the Lord call her name on Easter morning and went home to be with him. Josie was born in Glendale Arizona, lived her early life in Friendly Corner, Arizona and moved to Salinas with her husband in 1964. Josie was kind and loving with a great sense of humor and a talent for painting. She worked for 38 years for Bud of California which morphed into Dole Foods. She ran the Bud store “La Tiendita” with her best friend Adela Castillo.

She is preceded by her parents, Joe and Irene Ochoa and leaves behind her husband of 59 years, John, their daughter Terese, sister Sally Franks, brother Jesse Ochoa, nieces Vicki Fernando, Penny Fendley, Sarah Ochoa, Jennifer Valdez, and nephews Butch, Johnny, and Chris Franks. She also has 14 grand nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in celebration of Josie’s life will be held on May 9th at 10am at Madonna Del Sasso Church on E. Laurel Dr. in Salinas. Mass will be followed by refreshments at the same location.

In honor of Josie and her well known giving nature, a Scholarship will be open via Hartnell College in her name to be given to the community. Donations can be submitted directly to Hartnell College.
