Obituary of Charles Edward O'Bannion II

Charles Edward O’Bannion II of Marina California passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2023 at the age of 62. Charles was born on April 12, 1961 in El Paso Texas to Charles Edward O’Bannion I and Elizabeth Janice McConnell O’Bannion.

Charles, also known as Chuck by family and friends, graduated from high school in Dell City, TX in 1979 where he met Carol Beasley. They were married for 20 years. They had two wonderful children Mercedes Bron O’Bannion and Ian Micheal O’Bannion. Nothing made Charles prouder than his bright, clever and talented kids.

Charles worked his way up from a technician to an engineer and spent 25 years working at Motorola before moving on to consulting work before retirement.

Charles was a free-spirited Texan with a penchant for theater and classic movies. Charles’ passion for music inspired him to hand-craft guitars, and he shared his affection for friends and family through the delicious food he loved to cook. Charles shared his life with his wife Andrea Baltzegar whom he married in 2020 after a long engagement. Their 16 years were cut short by Charles’ sudden death.

Charles is survived by his wife, Andrea; daughter Mercedes O’Bannion and her husband Dillion Johnson of San Antonio, TX; son Ian O’Bannion of Monterey, CA; sisters Gail Matthews of Decatur, TX, Cindy and her husband Michael Joseph of Paris, TX and brothers Michael and his wife Michele O’Bannion of Walsenburg, CO and Patrick O’Bannion of Cabot, AR. His love of friends and family knew no bounds so it’s difficult to list all those affected by his death.

Charles will be remembered for his blue eyes, his bright smile and his mantra ‘be the reason someone smiles today’.
