Michael Youngblood

Obituary of Michael G. Youngblood

Michael G. Youngblood, 80, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Monday, May 15, 2023.  Michael was born March 9, 1943 in Arizona to Alyce and Frank Youngblood, but spent most of his life throughout California.

He served in the Army for three years in the US and France as a young man. Upon his return from the military, Michael established his own business in Monterey County. Known for his hard work and dedication, his business Marina Concrete Company was well known and respected for over 50 years. His work and his men were a major source of pride for him and his family. Michael was not only a successful businessman but a character that loomed large in the lives of those he knew. A "silver-tongued devil"- he was a born storyteller, orator, lover of jokes and counsel to many. Flashy, good-time loving and adventurous, Michael inspired us to live with authenticity. A very generous man who always sought to help others and embody his values as a man of God. He was well-traveled and curious, but his passion and heart remained always with his family. A devoted Husband, Father and Papa, Michael never missed an opportunity to show his love and support to his family- or tell anyone who would listen!  His legacy lives on through his sayings, lessons, and the unconditional love he showed us all.

Will we miss him?    "Does a hobby horse have a wooden ass?!"

He is predeceased by his daughter Lynna. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jana. His children Michael II (Danielle), Candiss, Desiree (Quinn), Alison (Adam), Guy and Billy Joe Shelby. His beloved grandchildren, Kathryn, Walker, Riley, Michael III, Heather and Holly. His siblings Walt and Laura (Craig) and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life at Gino's restaurant in Salinas on June 30th, stop by anytime between 1-4pm.
