Obituary of Percy Manton

Percy Manton, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2009. He was born in England on June 26, 1924. He left England in 1952 with his wife, Kathleen, to live in Canada. In 1957 they came to live in California, on the Monterey Peninsula. In 1961 he opened European Car Service on Franklin Street. He was the owner operator until his retirement in 1996. At that time he and his wife travelled in their RV for the next nine years doing volunteer work at campgrounds. In 2005 they settled back in Salinas to be close to their family in Spreckels. He is survived by Kathleen, his loving wife of 60 years; their loving daughter, Christine A. Grothe (Paul) and four loving grandchildren, Colin, Martin, Kaylee and Angelina. A special thank you to Skyline Convalescent Home and the fourth floor nursing staff at SVMH. No services at his request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Percy's name to MCAFCC ( a non-profit in Monterey supporting Foster Children) 1000 S.
