Obituary of Julia Aguilar

Julia Aguilar, 81, of Salinas, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009. Julia was born June 19,1928, in Los Angeles, California. The oldest daughter to Toribio and Manuela Rivera; she helped raise her 16 siblings. On August 23, 1949; Julia married Joe Vincent Aguilar and together they had 6 children. After working at Speigel's; Julia worked for Oshita, Inc., until she retired. Living in Gonzales for over 30 years; Julia and Vincent continued raising their children in the family home on Oshita Ranch #1. Julia loved to cook for her family and friends. She was famous for making Menudo on Sundays and cooking her famous Fried Chicken. "There was always food to eat at Grandma's". Julia had such joy talking on the phone with her Comadre Carmen. You could always tell they were on the phone because there was more laughing than talking. Julia also loved to travel, so with her friend, Mary, they were always taking trips to Reno, Tahoe and those annual Birthday trips to Vegas. They also took a wonderful vacation to Italy. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Aguilar on January 17, 1997; brothers Rudy, Val and Elias Rivera; sister Rachel Rivera Sandoval; sister-in-law Esther Rivera; nephews Elias,Jr. and Alex Rivera and Compadre Frank Gutierrez. Julia leaves behind her family, whom she loved very much. Sons and their spouses; Vince, Jr. & Liz Aguilar, Casey & Adeline Aguilar, and Peter & Delia Aguilar; Daughters Anita Santiago, Ophelia Valdez and Norma Aguilar, 17 Grandchildren; Catherine & Kevin Bonincontri, Joey Aguilar, Emalee Aguilar, Valerie Reyes, Moses & Karina Jimenez, Casey Aguilar, Manuel Valdez, Chito Santiago, Peter & Tamica Aguilar, Jr. Toby Aguilar, Jessica Valdez, Robert Valdez, Joshua Delgado, and Julia Aguilar. 8 Great-grandchildren; Alec Andalon, Hayden Bonincontri, Miro Gomez, Anthony Aguilar, Manny Jimenez, Christian Jimenez, Chloe Aguilar and Shaina Aguilar. She also leaves behind her Brothers and Sisters, Nieces and Nephews, Godchildren, Compadres & Comadres and many good friends.
