Obituary of Rosa Pardo-Acosta

Rosa Pardo-Acosta, 89, of Castroville, our beloved mother and grandmother went home to be with our Lord on January 12, 2014. She was born in Ensenada-Guanica, Puerto Rico on October 9, 1924 to Jacinto and Eulalia Lugo. She met the love of life at a very early age in Puerto Rico where they married on December 24, 1944. She settled in Castroville in 1957 with her husband, Alejandro, who was serving in the military at Ft. Ord. After her husband Alejandro, retired from the military they remained in Castroville and made their home there. She was a homemaker for 67 years. She loved her children more than anything in the world and helped raise her grandchildren. She loved to make her grandchildren laugh and even total strangers would find fondness in her. She had a lot of affection for her group at the Castroville Senior Center where they taught her to do quilting and she looked forward to spending time with them until her health got worse. Rosa is preceded in death by her husband Alejandro Pardo-Acosta, Eddie Flores her grandson , her parents and 4 brothers who have already celebrated her arrival in God’s kingdom Rosa is survived by her children, Rosa (Fred) Flores of Salinas, Edna Pardo of Salinas, Hilda Landry of Castroville, Ada (Jim) DeZerga of Nevada, Arnaldo(Linda)Pardo of Salinas, and Alex (Sherri) Pardo of Fairfield. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11am at the Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church 11140 Preston St. Castroville, CA 95012. Burial services to be held at the Castroville District Cemetery at Moss Landing
