Obituary of Thomas Ayers

Thomas L. Ayers, Sr. (82) passed away peacefully on February 21, 2010, at home with his family by his side. He was born on March 26, 1927, in Wailuku, Maui, Territory of Hawaii. His parents and seven siblings preceded him in death. Tom is survived by his wife of sixty years, Irmgard “Fussy” Jeannette (Brash) Ayers; six children, Thomas L. Ayers, Jr., Mayvis L. (Ayers) Spears, Irmgard “Nuni” J. (Ayers) Waiolama, David J. Ayers, Alan V. Ayers and Allison I. (Ayers) Riddle; six grandchildren, Penny (Joseph) Heersche, Jennifer Riddle, Laine (Phillip) Riddle-Ramos, Thomas (Ashley) L. Ayers III, Michael Ayers and Christopher Ayers; three great-grandchildren, William Heersche, Thomas L. Ayers IV and Zayden Ayers. He also leaves behind a large extended family on the mainland, as well as home in Hawaii. Prior to succumbing to Alzheimer’s, Tom was an avid golfer, fisherman and gardener. He retired from the United States Army with a rank of Master Sergeant having served multiple tours of duty overseas. Most important to Tom was his relationship with Jehovah, being a loyal Jehovah’s Witness for over 30 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 3319 Abdy Way, Marina, CA, with a dinner to follow.
