Obituary of Ivy Jordan

Ivy Modine Jordan passed away at the age of 84 on May 22, 2010, at Windsor Gardens of Salinas following a lengthy illness with her family by her side. She was born in Farrell (Webb), Mississippi on November 21, 1925 to the late Andrew Jackson and Lillie Pearl Melton. She was a resident of Salinas, CA for 50 years. She was united in holy matrimony to Homer Watson Jordan who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by four sons (Homer Eugene, Tommy, Larry, and Ricky) and one daughter (Mary Jane); two brothers (Pete and Theo Melton); and three sisters (Margie Moore, Ruth Burnett and Vertlee Tart). She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined the Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Moore. Ivy was a generous and kind-hearted person. She was a dedicated and loving mother. She was a firm believer in education. She instilled the importance of an education in her daughters and grandchildren. She paved the way for her children to receive their education. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, painting, reading, and watching her flowers grow. She leaves to cherish her loving memories five daughters Linda Jordan, Sue Broady, Marie Jordan-Keen, and Judy Rodriguez (Tomas) of Salinas, CA and Retha Keen (Winfred) of Oxford, Mississippi; four granddaughters Toni Matlock, Savannah Keen and Marcy Esprio of Salinas and Heather Fletes (Rick) of Woodbridge, CA: one grandson Jason Scott Keen (Karissa) of Salinas, and five great-grandchildren Angel, Alejandra, Jianna, Brian, and Zoey. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Windsor Gardens of Salinas for the support and care they provided.
