Obituary of Antonia Granados

Antonia Frances Granados passed away on June 29, 2010 at home surrounded by her family and caregiver. Even as she had a lengthy illness, she was able to spend the majority of that time at her home of 45 years. Antonia was born on February 10, 1925 in Ventura, CA. She was the second of eight children to Juan and Anita Cerna and was raised in Spreckels, CA. She married Jose Granados in 1950 and had two sons making their lifelong home in Salinas. She had a long career at Merritt Packing in Salinas and remained a homemaker after that period. She spent her time swimming with her group at Sherwood Pool, taking long walks, volunteering, visiting friends and family. She enjoyed giving chocolate covered cherries for Christmas presents. She was named Natividad Medical Center's Auxillary Volunteer of the Year in 1992. All her friends called her "Toni". She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, son, Arthur, brothers, Nathan, Salvador and Peter. She is survived by her son Roger Granados, sisters, Sarah Montanez of Pacific Grove and Bedilla Martinez of Watsonville, brothers John Cerna of Spreckels and Ernie Cerna of Clear Lake, along with numerous nephews and nieces. June 29th was also the same date her husband Jose passed away in 1989. Many individuals helped with her care and visited her during her illness over the years. The Granados Family would like to give special thanks to her primary caregiver, Nelly Galindo. Mrs. Galindo's unwavering care and dedication until the very end was extremely comforting.
