Obituary of Earl Evans

Earl C. Evans passed away after a long illness, on Monday, December 31, 2007, at the age of 96. Earl was a professional musician with the Phil Harris Orchestra. During that time, he played saxophone, clarinet and was a featured vocalist on the Jack Benny Radio Show. After eight years with the Harris Orchestra; Earl decided to work as a studio musician. He was on NBC and ABC staff Orchestras. He played for such programs as Ozzie and Harriet, and Dragnet. He was also in the Disneyland and Rams Football marching bands. In 1959, Earl found a new calling as a minister with the United Church of Religious Science. His new career began as assistant minister at Founder's Church in Los Angeles, California, where he studied with the Church's Founder, Ernest Holmes. During the 20 year career, he served as senior minister for churches in La Crescenta, Sherman Oaks, Oakland, Santa Barbara all in California and Orlando, Florida. When he retired from the ministry in 1979; He and his wife moved to Del Rey Oaks, California to be close to their children. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Olive Evans. He is survived by his children, Joy Evans of Salinas and William Evans of Monterey, two grandchildren, Sean Carrick of San Diego and Kim Contreras of Gilbert, Arizona and four great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Eric Contreras of Gilbert, Arizona and Kai and Ginger Rose Carrick of San Diego. At his request, now services will be held. Cremation will take place.
