Philip Santora

Obituary of Philip Santora

Philip Salvatore Santora,54, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his sister and brother-in-law, and cousins on May 19, 2008. Phil, or "Junior" as he was known to his many friends was stricken at age 20 with a form of Muscular Dystrophy, never complaining about his disease. Bedridden for over 20 years, he touched the lives of many with his warm smile and his "Beautiful Blue Eyes". Known for his love of the Yankees, Phil was often seen at the wharf chatting with friends about sports. Growing up a Cowboy fan, he found a new love, the 49er's. He grew up playing in youth baseball leagues where his father, Phil, Sr. was coach, as well as belonging to a youth bowling league, where at age 10, he bowled a perfect 300 game. Over the years, Phil's illness progressed and after the death of his parents, Phil & Lena Santora; he moved in with his sister, Angela Kirth and brother-in-law, David, who became his caregiver for the next 7 years. In 2004, Phil was thrilled with his 50th birthday party celebrating with close friends and old school buddies "The Spaghetti Hill Gang". He cherished the signed football and baseball given to him by the "Gang". He never let his sister take down his "Happy Birthday" banner, because for him, everyday was his birthday. Phil, we will never forget your answer for everything "I Know". Phil is survived by his sister, Angela (David) Kirth, brother, Victor (Josephine) Santora, nephews, Phil (Claudia) Santora, Jack Santora, and Dave (Chrystal) Kirth, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and great nephews.
