Obituary of Clifford Farrell

Clifford Othell Farrell, 84, passed away Saturday, June 28, at Pacific Coast Care Facility in Salinas, California. He is survived by his wife, Geneva of Salinas; son, Wayne and Sandi Farrell of Salinas; daughter, Linda and David Purcell of Tualatin, Oregon, and five grandchildren, Nicolas, Dana, Jeffrey, Megan and Bryan, and three great grandchildren, Dyllan, Emma & Hannah. Cliff was born in Blue, Oklahoma, in 1923. He lived with his parents and five brothers and sister at the family home until he graduated from BlueHigh Schoolin 1941. After high school, Cliff joined the Army and served his country in WWII touring France, Italy, and Africa. After the war, Cliff returned to Oklahoma, then moved with his brother and sister-in-law to California. He worked on several area farms and then became a ranch hand on the Walter Markham Hereford Ranch in Corral de Tierra. In 1947 Cliff met Geneva Sexton at a restaurant where she was working and a year later they were married. In the next few years, Cliff and neva welcomed son, Wayne, and daughter, Linda into their home. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 18, 2008. In 1953 Cliff was hired at the Soledad Correctional Institution where he served faithfully for the next 25 years. He retired from there in 1978 and for the next ten years worked as a security officer at Teledyne Corp. in San Jose. Cliff was a loving father and grandfather and a caring husband. He and Genevatouched many, many children's lives over the years through the day care they had in their home. Cliff was a man of high moral principles and a very loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and those that knew him around the Salinas area.
