Obituary of Ida Presley

Ida Mae Presley passed away December 25, 2010. She was born Ida Mae Gresham on August 10, 1918. She had two older brothers and a twin, James Ray Gresham. She attended schools in Reagan and Marlin, Texas, and married Ventner Frankum in 1936. She had two children, Margaret and Wilber. She divorced in 1953. She later married Donald D. Presley, leaving Texas in 1953. they had two children, Donna and Diana. Her husband was career Air Force, so they moved frequently. They first lived in Portland, Oregon. From there they lived in a number of place; Minneapolis, MN, Fairbanks, AK, Dover, DE, Columbus, OH, Altus, OK, Banks, OR, and finally Salinas, CA, where she resided from 1977. Mae, as she was called most of the time, was a woman of many interests and talents. SHe learned to sew from her mother and made her own clothes and her children's as well. Later in life, she took up quiliting and made one for all her children and grandchildren. She became interested in community service, and was one of the first women in Salinas to join a Lion's Club in the area. She later belonged to the Salinas Host Lions and was a life member. She had four children, Margaret, Wilber, Donna and Diana as well as eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and parent and will be missed by many. Family Services have been held with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
