Obituary of Birdie Buckley

Birdie Mae Buckley, 91, passed away December 31, 2010 in Redding CA after a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1919 in Pineville, Mississippi. She and her husband, John owned and worked a farm in Mississippi before moving to Salianas in 1957. Birdie was a former longtime resident of Salinas, and had currently resided in Shasta County for the past decade. Birdie retired as a lab tech for Dalgety Foods in Salinas in 1984. Birdie was a loving Wife and Mother, who enjoyed dancing, southern cooking, and a good joke. Her spunk energy and southern charm were admired by all. Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Buckley, two sons, Charles and Don Buckley, and three brothers, Isom Smith, Ardis and Curits Kemp. She is survived by Daughters Evelyn Brockman and Bernice Vincelet both of Redding, Son Chester C. (Mary) Buckley of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are nine Grandchildren and ten Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 6 1-9pm at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, Jan.7 2pm by Officers and Members of the Order of Eastern Star, Reveille Chapter #47 at Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
