Robert Bowling

Obituary of Robert Bowling

Bob (Robert) Bowling passed away peacefully at his home in Prunedale on Saturday August 23. Bob fought, won, and lost, his five-year battle with colon cancer. Until the end, his optimism and zest for life, helped to carry us through this journey with him. Bob worked as a Manager for Rite Aid, Payless Drugs, and Monte Mart, for over 30 years. He loved to read and enjoy the sunny outdoors, and he was always seeking the elusive hole-in-one. He tried to be an avid gardener and fisherman, and he loved to watch his backyard hawks, finches, quail and deer. Bob loved golf, the San Francisco Giants, and 49ers. He was most proud of being able to walk the entire track at the Relay for Life in Salinas this past June, and it was, a great accomplishment, all things considered. Born on December 17, 1935 in Dearborn, MI, he was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Lela, and his brother Bill in Michigan. Sadly, Bob’s father in-law, Teofilo (Bill) Ugale, passed away simultaneously at his home in Salinas. Bob is survived by his wife Luisa and their children Matthew and Garry, and his children Brendan (Pam), Leslie (John) Bowling-Gomez, Bruce (Sylvia). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody, Jessica, Alyssa, Sofia, Jacob and Elena, and his extended Ugale family. He is also survived by his sister Donna in Michigan. Robert was previously employed as a Drug Store Manager for over 40 years. He had served in the U.S. Army.
