Obituary of Christopher Henry

Christopher C. Henry, 87, longtime resident of Salinas, died peacefully at home Saturday, June 11, 2011. He was born April 27, 1924 in Muldrow, Okla. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Elk's Lodge No. 614 BPOE, DAV Chapter 101 of Salinas, the American Legion Post No. 31 of Salinas, and was an active horseman; he was a member of the Salinas Valley Horseman's Association, where he served as a judge for many years at the Old Stage Arena. Christopher was previously employed with the City of Salinas as a Reprographics Operator for more than 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janna Henry of Salinas; daughters, Christine (James) Stroh of Sacramento, Cathy (Don) Cooper of King City, Cyndie Henry of Salinas, and Sherry Johnson of Rancho Cordova; brother, Clyde Henry of Sedona, Ariz.; sisters, Nora Henry of Sacramento and Ida Malmsted of New Brunsville, Texas; grandchildren, Fred, Stacie, William "Bill", Katie, Michelle and Stefani; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Andrew, Elijah, Jacob, Jonah, Austin, Chloe, and Rylee; along with other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Cooper. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 1 to 9 p.m., at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral service will take place Friday, June 17, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the Healey Mortuary Chapel. Burial to follow with full Military Honors at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
