Obituary of Lloyd Beilby

Lloyd "Buck" Beilby passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2008. He was born in the Sacramento area on July 22, 1918, and lived there until the 60's when he and his wife Mary Ann, moved to Carmel. Buck often said he spent more time trout fishing than in school. When World War II began he joined up. He was a gunner in the 26th Air Squadron. His unit was sent to England in 1941, where they trained with the R.A.F. After the war, Buck lived in Sacramento with his wife, Mary Ann. He worked for the telephone company there for many years. In the 60's, they moved to Carmel. He continued to work for the telephone company and they bought the Spinning Wheel Inn and Steak House. He and Mary Ann ran the Inn for about 20 years when they sold it. Buck and his wife enjoyed traveling especially to Northern California. Buck would go trout fishing, while his wife would needle point. Buck was a passionate sports fan. He always watched his favorite San Francisco 49'ers. He stayed with them even when they had bad years. He also loved his bassett hound, Humprey #5, who kept him company to the end. Buck is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ann, and his brother, Vern Beilby of Sacramento. Buck is survived by his twin Loren Beilby and Ralph Beilby of Sacramento; his sister-in-law and her husband Marge and Gustav Garay of New York, and Jo Marie Banahan of Sacramento. Nieces and nephews; Kathy Beilby, Linda Downing, Jerry Beilby, Rodney Beilby and Tim Beilby. Buck's wish of having his ashes scattered at Monterey Bay was fulfilled on his 90th birthday, at sunset, by his long-time friends Lee and Bob Miyamoto, his niece Kathy Beilby and friend Victor Worden. A champagne toast was done for Buck, who is now at peace with his wife, Mary Ann. Buck would be happy to know Humphrey #5 has a new wonderful home. Cremation was conducted at Healey Mortuary & Crematory. Rememberances can be made to Monterey County S.P.C.A. P.O. Box 3058 Monterey, CA 93942
