Obituary of Edna Long

Edna D. Long passed away peacefully at Carmel Hills Care Center on October 26, 2008 at the age of 84. She was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on July 8, 1924. Edna was an accountant for 25 years for the Ft. Ord Post Exchange. She was predeceased by her loving husband Leland R. Long in 1992. Before Lee’s passing, they loved to take road trips in their Airstream. Some of their most memorable adventures were to Oregon, Colorado, Arizona and Canada. They also participated in tours and activities with the Carmel Foundation. Edna loved to bake and soon became known for her famous chocolate chip cookies. Everyone looked for her delicious cookies at every family affair as well as other gatherings they attended. She is survived by her son, Hal T. (Esther) McKay of Monterey, CA; Ruby Jean (Ron) Eveland of Longview,Washington; stepdaughters, Liz (Al) Globus of Davis, CA; and Barbara (Michael) Bloom of Leonia, New Jersey; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. According to Edna’s wishes, she will be cremated and at a private family gathering her ashes will be placed next to her husband, Lee, at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove.
