Obituary of Maria Real

Maria Z. Real, 90, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away on November 6, 2011 in Salinas. Maria Real was a true migrant family mother. She was born the sole daughter to Matilde Zepeda and Maria de Jesus Acosta both from Jalisco Mexico. Maria was born in Eastland Tx because her father was an engineer for the railroad. In 1930 Maria was taken to Jalisco Mexico by her parents a move that she never liked. She missed the snow in the winter and the beautiful fall leaves in the Autumn. At age nine an in a foreign country Maria made due; she learned to read and write in Spanish and adapted to the local ways but in her heart, she knew she belonged back in Texas. Maria met and married the love of her life Jesus Real after they married they returned to the United Stated and this is where her true life began. They traveled throughout California she gave birth to her children as far North as Willows, California and as far South as Oxnard, California and places in between including Santa Maria and Salinas. Maria enjoyed family gatherings. Christmas and Easter were amongst her favorites. She was a talented cook and enjoyed the art of needle point. She enjoyed reading great books and also enjoyed the classic waltz of all time. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia (Jaime) Zarate of Salinas Silvia (Adan) Beas of Sailnas Sara and Martha Real both of Salinas Gloria (Jose) Zepeda of Salinas sons, Alonzo (Guadalupe) Real of Salinas Raul (Yadira) Real of Salinas Jorge (Patricia) Real of Corning Juan (Ana Elizabeth) Real of Oceano brother, Jose Luis (Rosa) Real of Santa Maria numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Jesus P. Real in 1989 parents, Matilde and Maria de Jesus Zepeda two brothers, and one daughter, Maria Ester Rincon. Visitation will be held on, Wednesday, November 9, 2011 1-9pm with Rosary Recital 7pm all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2011 10am at St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church 424 Towt. St. Salinas, CA 93905. Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
