Obituary of Patricia D'Acquisto

Patricia Ann D’Acquisto, 61, of Salinas, passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side on November 10, 2011 after combatting cancer for six months. Born January 20, 1950 to Command Sergeant Major, Leon B Doubek, retired, US Army and Bette A (Brockway) (Doubek) Delacruz in Fort Ord, CA. Growing up, Pat lived in many different places, including: California, Idaho and Hawaii, where she grew to love the Polynesian Culture, the ocean and Li Hui Mui’s (dried flavored plums). Many summers of her childhood were spent on her aunt’s ranch in Montana as a ranch hand. Time was spent serving meals to cowboys and enjoying her love for horses. She was a 1968 graduate of Monterey High School where she met her husband of 42 years, Tom D’Acquisto. Together they have three children and six grandchildren. Pat and Tom enjoyed hanging out with friends, having progressive dinners, wine tasting in Napa and going camping. Pat and family lived an adventurous life traveling spontaneously to places such as Montana, Utah, Canada, Hawaii, Solvang, CA and Reno, NV. Eventually, they purchased a second home in Reno where they spent many weekends enjoying the area. Pat valued her time as a Retail Sales Manager for various companies. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Bette A Delacruz and brother, Jon Doubek. She is survived by her husband, Tom; Daughters: Colleen (Ron) Dermates, Teresa (Greg) Gruner and Dannelle (Matt) Jenkins; and six grandchildren. Pat is also survived by: CSM Leon B Doubek, retired, US Army; siblings: Jeanne Breeden, James Doubek, Cecilia Reuter, Rick Doubek, Mark Doubek, Scott Doubek, Liz York and Steven Delacruz. She was a very creative and compassionate woman who will be deeply missed. A special thanks to family, friends, doctors and nurses who helped Pat through her journey.
