Obituary of Monica Calderon

Monica Esther Calderon of Marina died early Sunday as result of a fire at her group home. She was 24. Although mentally and physically challenged, she loved being out in the community, shopping, and going out to eat. She loved to travel and looked forward to her vacations with dad and step-mother in Pennsylvania. She loved "cruising" with her dad in his truck. Monica is survived by her mother-Connie Lozano, father-Jess Calderon (PA), step-mother-Inez Calderon (PA), siblings: Kimberly Taylor (Soledad, CA), Joseph Ayala (AZ), Michael Ayala (AZ), and numerous maternal and paternal uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905 on Saturday, November 19th at 1:30 pm. Hors d' oeuvres will be served at the Apostolic Bethel Temple, 1104 Fontes Lane, Salinas, CA 93907 following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to San Andreas Regional Center, 344 Salinas Street Suite 207 Salinas, CA 93901.
