Obituary of Marcelina Enriquez

Marcelina Ferrer Enriquez, 88, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by her children and family. Marcelina was born on March 26, 1920 in Corregidor, Philippines to Leonardo and Valeriana Ferrer. In 1936 she married the love of her life, Reynold Estrella Enriquez and they had a family of seven children. Military life took the family from the Philippines in 1954 to Okinawa, Japan for a couple of years and then to San Francisco prior to their last assignment at Fort Ord, CA. Marcelina and her family settled in Salinas until her relocation to San Francisco, CA in 1982 and then to Las Vegas, NV in 2003. Much of her time was spent cooking, baking, crocheting and visiting with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While she resided in Salinas, Marcelina was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the local Filipino Community Clubs. During her senior years she especially enjoyed playing Keno, Blackjack and Majong. Marcelina loved her family dearly and enjoyed the many family and social functions. She was a wonderful spouse, mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed but not forgotten. Survivors include her children: Ellie (DG) Elegado of Las Vegas, NV; Albert Enriquez and Reynaldo (Lorelie) Enriquez of San Francisco, CA; Eddie Enriquez of San Diego, CA; Regina (Art) Sabiniano of Salinas, CA; and Joann Salinas of San Francisco, CA. In addition, she is survived by 23 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren. Marcelina also leaves her sisters, Enrica Abesamis and Natalie Pagdilao of Los Angeles, CA; Susana Marcelino and Manuela Angeles of the Philippines. Marcelina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Reynold Estrella Enriquez (1987); her beloved daughter, Frances Galope (1996); and brother, Puring Ferrer of the Philippines (2007).
