Obituary of Cipriana Parcasio

Cipriana “Cippy” Quirante Parcasio died Saturday, January 17th, 2009 in Waipahu, HI, from complications with pneumonia. She was 89 years old. Cippy was a long time resident of Salinas for over 47 years. She was born in Sapang Bato, Ft. Stotsenburg, Pampanga, Philippines in September 26, 1919. She was married nearly 60 years to Ben Parcasio, who passed in 1997. She graduated from Fashion and Beauty School in the Philippines, worked for Brad Whitney and Dick Bruhns before retiring in the 1980. She was an active member and served on several boards of the: FilAm Civic League – Filipino Community of Salinas Valley, Tarlakeian Club, Filipino Club of Marina, Pangasinan Association, Laoagenian of Salinas, and the Philippine Scouts First & 2nd Regiment of Salinas. Cippy was the first child born of Agripina Romanillos and Bonifacio Quirante. She has (1) sister, and (5) brothers: two siblings residing in Salinas- Amada Q. Cosio and Rene Serrano (wife Lucy). Brother Carlos Quirante (wife Nannie) of Cebu. Sister-in-law Belinda Quirante (widow of her brother Fred Quirante) of Rossmore, CA. Brother Tom Serrano (wife Nelia) of Fairfield, CA. The youngest brother Benny Serrano (wife Rose) of Gurnee, IL. She survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II with two children while her husband Ben was a POW after the Bataan Death March. Cippy learned to be self-sufficient with four kids, while Ben was off to the Korean War. In 1959, Cippy brought the family to Ft. Hood, TX to be with Ben, then to Ft. Ord, CA in 1962, when they eventually decided to make Salinas there home. Cippy was a Godly woman, who prayed twice a day for everyone, but herself. She was great Wife and Mother, a tenacious bowler, passionate about Bingo, not shy about karaoke, enjoyed playing cards, watched her favorite TV game shows daily, went on an occasional trip to Reno and Indian Casinos, and most of all loved her extended families, over 140 in the Parcasio, Quirante, and Serrano families. She is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren: Eldest son Cezar Q. Parcasio, wife Neri and their son Nathan of Las Vegas, other sons Matthew (wife Gigi) and Oliver Parcasio. Daughter Willie, husband Herb Caspelich of Waipahu, HI, and their children Herb Jr, Johanna (husband Eric Iwamoto) and her children Noah and Alyssa. Son Emmanuel Q. Parcasio, wife Elvie of Tracy, CA, and Manny’s son Erik (wife Janis) and their children Kimberly and Jaden. Youngest son Ben (Jr.) Q. Parcasio and his wife Debbie of Salinas, and their children: Christopher, Kevin, Tiffany, and Heather. Immediately following the interment, at the Madonna Del Sasso Hall (located behind the church).
