Obituary of Geraldine Flynn

Geraldine “Geri” M. Flynn, 93, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2012. Geri was born in Fargo, North Dakota on April 19, 1919. Geraldine was a parishoner of Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church of Salinas, and was a member of YLI Ignatius #85, the Catholic Daughters, I.C.F. Pope John Branch #200, and of the Legion of Mary. She spent the early part of her life in Fargo helping her family by working in various jobs throughout her younger years. She received her most challenging and rewarding job as guardian and parent to her two young nieces. She then married and lost her first husband Russell Flynn while in her 30’s. She was given the opportunity to move to Californian with her nieces and marry her first husband’s brother Harold Flynn. She moved to Salinas in 1957. Geri was a book-keeper for Harold with several grocery stores he owned and operated. After the sale of the last store, she continued to work for various community organizations such as the Meals on Wheels Program here in Salinas. She never had an unkind word for anyone and would give what she could to those in need. Her mind was as sharp as could be even in her last hours. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. Geri was preceded in death by her three sisters Muriel Billman, Virginia Swanson, and Beverly Berg, her first husband Russell Flynn, second husband Harold Flynn and her daughter Patricia Seablom. She is survived by her brother Douglas Legler (Fargo, ND), her daughter Marilyn (Gerry) Wagner (Los Olivos, CA), her grandson Jeff (Jennifer) Sjoblom and her great-grand children Hailey and Cole (Salinas, Ca). A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 5-9pm with a Rosary Vigil at 7pm all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. Private Graveside Services with Interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery 18200 Damian Way Salinas, CA 93907.
