Obituary of Philip Renfro

Philip S. Renfro, 85, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 31, 1926 in La Mesa, Texas. His younger years were spent in Texas and at the age of 12 he moved to California. He grew up in Greenfield and spent alot of fun times swimming in the Arroyo Seco River. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon returning, he moved to Reno and learned the brick laying trade from L. A. Dunson. Phil returned to Greenfield and owned and operated Renfro Masonry. Many people in Greenfield and King City still enjoy the fireplaces and brickwork he designed and built. Each of his children were blessed with a fireplace he designed. He also donated his craftmanship to the construction of the King City War Memorial. Phil was an avid Bowler and belonged to the Gonzales Trap Shooting Club. As a fisherman, he loved to fish at Plasket Creek. Phil was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Jo. His children, Jo Ann (Tom) Burkman, Norma (Bruce) Kingston, and Richard (Cheryl) Mosley. He also leaves his grandchildren, Tammy Otero, Kelly Sonnenschein, Shawn Benadom, Rodney Mosley, Natalie Medici, Buffy Mosley, and Kristy Burkman; Twelve great grandchildren, his sister, Georgie Tyler and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving friends and family. Visitation will be held at the Healey Mortuary on Friday from 1 to 9 PM. Funeral Services wil be held, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Healey Mortuary Chapel in Salinas. A family burial will take place Monday, July 2, 2012 at the King City Cemetery.
