Obituary of Roger Salinas

Roger S. Salinas, Jr., 47, lifelong resident of Salinas, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones on May 22, 2013 in Salinas. He was born on July 4, 1965 in Fresno, CA. Roger worked construction and was an avid Raider's fan. He enjoyed heavy metal music, his favorite band was Metallica. He especially enjoyed cooking and growing palm trees. Roger loved life, telling stories, cooking seafood, mountain climbing and camping. He will be greatly missed by his companion, Rachel Meza, his beloved dog, "Rocky", and by all who knew him and loved him. Roger is survived by his beloved mother, Delia Gamez of Salinas and his brother, Ruben Gamez of Las Vegas; his extended family, Raul Sanchez, George Sanchez, Felix (Pat) Sanchez, Irma (Arturo) Moreno and Stella Sanchez, all of Salinas, Harvey (Gloria) Sanchez of Texas, along with numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his father, Rogelio Salinas, Sr. and his older brother, Ricky Salinas, Uncle Jesse G. Sanchez, Aunt Raquel Salazar and Berta Morales Sanchez, cousin Diane Loredo and his grandparents, Felix and Juanita Sanchez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Celebration Mass will take place on Wednesday, May 29 at 1:30pm at St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church 424 Towt St. Salinas, CA 93905. Burial to follow services at Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
