Obituary of Jess Ernest Arias

Jess E. Arias Jr., a longtime resident of Carmel CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday January 20th, 2019 following a courageous battle with Cancer.

Jess was born in Merced, CA on July 10, 1946, to Jess and Isabel Arias. In 1958 Jess and Isabel moved their family of five children to Salinas.  Jess Jr. attended North Salinas High School and his class of 1964 was the first graduating class to attend all four years at North High.  Following high school Jess enlisted in the US Army and served as a medic in France and Germany during the Vietnam War. 

Jess was a well-known local business owner of Carmel Print and Copy for over 25 years.  He enjoyed life and often said he lived life to its fullest and was able to travel and do many things.  He had a big heart and touched the lives of those around him; he was generous and giving of his time.  Jess enjoyed helping others so much that he volunteered regularly at many events in the area.  He was loved by all with his laughter and kind hearted spirit. His vacation home in Belize, Central America was his favorite get a-way for nearly 30 years.  On the small island of Caye Caulker he made many friends, who often referred to him as the “mayor” on the island.

Jess is survived by his son Rodney, his granddaughter Alison, brothers Mike and Rudy, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  Jess was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jess and Isabel Arias, his sister Elaine and his brother Danny.

There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Jess on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Salinas PAL Armory, 100 Howard Street in Salinas from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
