Obituary of Wayne Mosher

Mr. Wayne D. Mosher, of San Jose, passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of Saturday, February 9, 2019, at his home.

Wayne was born June 29, 1943, in Salinas, California, to Violet and Paul Mosher.  Wayne grew up traveling the world as an Army “brat” with his parents and younger brother, Les, using Salinas as their home base.  Wayne served in the Air Force from 1962-1966, enrolling at Hartnell College upon his return.  There he met Margaret (Marcantonio), whom he married upon graduating from Sacramento State.  They were happily married for 49.5 years, with two children, son David and daughter Kathryn (K.C.).

Wayne continued to serve his country by working for the Federal government from the time he graduated college until his retirement from Ames Research Center, Mountain View, California, in January 2007.

His humor and knowledge was legendary to the point it was a family joke that not only he could tell you where and when any airplane or helicopter was designed, but he even knew commercial airline flight numbers and routes.

Wayne was an avid golfer, who could be spied almost weekly at the Salinas Fairways as well as at various courses around the west coast for tournaments, shooting his age at times, even making a hole in one, and celebrating with his friends.  A proud father, many will remember Mr. Mosher, working as swimming official, walking up and down the pool deck dressed in white.  After his kids grew up, Wayne and Margaret really started their lives number one passion: traveling the world together.  Their cruising took them to Europe, Australia, Alaska, the Caribbean and more; broadening their circle of friends to a special cruising group known as the “Lemmings.”

Smart, caring, trustworthy and loyal, his larger than life presence will be missed beyond measure.  Wayne is survived by his wife, Margaret, their children, David Mosher (partner Laurie, children Kara, Nolan, and Aedon) and K.C. Moore, (son-in-law Gary, children Aubrey and Brenna).

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to either the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Salvation Army in Wayne’s memory.
