Olga Orozco

Obituary of Olga Perez Orozco

Olga Perez Orozco departed her loving family on Friday, February 5, 2021 to be reunited with her parents.

Olga was born in Carpinteria, California on May 11, 1946 to Maria and Jose Angel Perez. She grew up in a mining camp in New Idria (San Benito County).  She had endless stories about New Idria and loved sharing them with her family. She graduated from San Benito High School and attended Gavilan and Cuesta College.

Olga worked for the Salinas Union High School District for 19 years as a Registrar at La Paz Middle School and as a Registrar clerk at Salinas High School. She was known for her kindness and welcoming smile. Prior to this, she had her own business where she prepared taxes and immigration paperwork.

Olga loved to travel and had thousands of pictures of all her trips. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, drawing, and praying the rosary. Recently, she was most proud of making face masks and giving them away to people.

She is survived by her children: Lesha Maria Rodriguez, Michael Angelo Rodriguez, Kristine Orozco-Flores, Maria Norma Orozco, and Cuauhtémoc Orozco. She had 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In recent years, Olga spent her free time caring for and playing with her granddaughter Izell.

Aside from her children and grandchildren she doted on, Olga is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Santos Orozco, and her loving sisters, Yolanda Konopken and Norma Guerra. Throughout her life, Olga spread joy and humor to everyone she met. She will be dearly missed.

A mass is scheduled at Madonna Del Sasso with a burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
