Obituary of Retha Jordan Keen

Retha Jordan Keen of Salinas California passed away Saturday May 15, 2021 at 7:30pm from this life into eternal life. She passed after a long battle with cancer with her family by her side. Retha was born in Marks, Mississippi on June 9th 1946. She was the daughter of Homer and Ivy Modine (Melton) Jordan. Retha was baptized in the Pentecostal Church and had a strong faith. Retha used to say that "With Him all things are possible."

Retha was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years and love of her life Winfred Keen, her parents Homer and Ivy Modine Jordan, sisters Sue (Jordan) Broady and Ivy Marie Jordan (Keen), and her niece Toni Matlock.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Linda Jordan and Judy Jordan Rodriguez/Tomas, nieces Heather Fletes/Rick, Savannah Keen, Alejandra Fletes, Jianna Keen, Jenna Keen, and nephews Jason Keen/Karissa and Angel Fletes. She is also survived by 1 stepdaughter Connie Keen Hudspath and 1 stepson Ronald Wayne Keen, along with many family and friends.

Retha has been a resident of Salinas Valley since 1960. She graduated from Salinas High School, got her cosmetology license, worked as a Teacher's Aide and Licensed Income Tax Preparer. Retha was a very creative person and enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts. She was great at drawing, painting, sewing, crocheting, reading, arranging flowers, gardening, and singing. She enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, and doing her own wood work. Retha also loved family get togethers. Retha had a saying "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." This is a motto by which she lived her life. Retha was and will always be dearly loved and will be forever missed. She will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd in Salinas, CA on Tuesday June 1, 2021 from 1pm-5pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 2, 2021 at 11am. Retha's final resting place will be in Batesville, Mississippi next to her husband Winfred Keen where there will be a graveside service on June 7, 2021 at 11am at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville MS.
