

Obituary of Reymundo Torres Jimenez
Reymundo Torres Jimenez,87, passed away peacefully on Friday the 11th of March at his Castroville home, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born January 7, 1935 in his family home in Castroville, one of 12 children born to Antonio and Jesus de Elena Jimenez. Reymundo married the love of his life, Rachel Arredondo Jimenez in 1957, they were happily married for 64 years.
Reymundo was proud to be one of a few born and raised in Castroville. He attended school until the 7th grade, then quit to work and help support his family in the Castroville packing sheds, retiring after working 35 years for Artichoke Industries as a warehouse manager. Reymundo loved many sports, he was an avid Oakland A's and Raiders fan, played softball and fastpitch for many years and in 1972 he pitched a shutout no hit game and was registered in the Salinas Californian as one of the best pitchers in the Tri-County area. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, boxing, going to casinos, working in his yard, listening to Trio Music and would always join in with his own set of Maracas and sing. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandsons sporting events.
Reymundo is survived by his loving wife Rachel and his 3 children, Raymundo (Rosslyn), Paul (Olga), and his only daughter Anne Marie (Roy); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Johnny Jimenez (Ninfa), he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Reymundo was preceded by his parents, brothers: Ramon, Antonio, Frankie, Fernando, and Joe, sisters: Francisca, Angie, Sally, Mary, and Frances, and his grandson, Fabian Sanchez.
Friends are invited to a Recitation of the Rosary at Our Lady of Refuge Church, 11140 Preston Street in Castroville, Thursday March 17, at 6:15 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday, March 18 at the Church. Burial will follow at the Castroville District Cemetery.
