Obituary of Joseph "Joey" D. Duenas

A longtime Salinas resident, Joey passed away March 6, 2023 of  cancer.  Joey was born September 19, 1966 on Guam to Joaquin "Al" and Mary Duenas. He graduated from North Salinas High School in 1984, where he was on the football team and met the love of his life, Maria Lagasca Duenas. He attended San Jose State University from 1986 to 1990.

Joey loved all things Disney, golf, barbecuing, road trips, firearms, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and anything Pokemon. He has worked at Northridge Cinema, JC Penney, IDT, Vitech Systems, and most recently Western Digital as an equipment technician.

He is survived by his mother Mary, his siblings Joaquin, Teresa, Vincent, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Joey is preceded in death by his wife, Maria.

Public visitation will be held 2:00pm to 5:00pm Thursday, March 16, 2023, including a Rosary at 3:00pm, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA 93905.

Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Friday, March 17, 2023 at Saint Joseph’s Church, 1 Railroad Ave., Spreckels, CA 93962.

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
